Safety first (on)

For flexographic printing companies, the safety issues of employees and workshops are very important. Staff in the printing shop must pay attention to personal safety and keep the workshop in good working condition. In order to avoid serious casualties, it is necessary to strictly abide by and implement the company's safety production regulations. In the flexographic printing process, printing is a key link. It is the result of the pre-design, plate making, and mass production. The quality of the final print not only affects the customer's trust in the company, but also the company’s Future and destiny. The basic principles of handling hazardous substances: 1. Do not dump any waste liquid, ink or solvent into the water tank, sink or sewer. 2. Do not place waste liquids, inks or solvents in ordinary garbage cans. 3, the solvent wipes should be placed in the designated container, and the container to be cleaned by a professional cleaning company. 4. The waste rag stained with solvent should not be discarded indiscriminately. It must be placed in a designated container and sent to a designated place for destruction or disposal by a special device. With a thorough understanding of the printing press and the printing shop, we will recognize the importance of safe production. Therefore, it is important to strengthen safety awareness and always remember “safety first” in the printing shop. The staff in the printing shop must not only know the purpose and role of safety and emergency devices, but also must know the specific location of these devices, such as emergency parking, lock switches, personal emergency devices, and fire extinguishers. Here's a brief introduction to the basics of these devices: The “Emergency Stop” button allows the press to stop quickly (but not immediately), as shown in Figure 110. There are multiple “Emergency Stop” buttons on the press, which are located in different parts of the press and are easily accessible by the operator. The emergency stop button can only be used if the printer must be stopped quickly in an emergency situation. The function of the “lock” switch is to prevent the printer from malfunctioning, as shown in Figure 111. These switches cut off the power to all the switches on the press, which in turn prevents accidental operation of the machine. The lock switch can be used when cleaning the printer or when shutting down for simple maintenance (such as making simple adjustments or troubleshooting paper jams). When the lock switch is pressed, the power is automatically cut off until the operator can reset the button again and the power can be turned on again. The Occupational Health and Safety Organization (OSHA) requires that equipment must be locked during repairs or maintenance of the machine, as well as under certain other conditions. In general, in these cases, use a padlock or other locking device to lock the main power switch or plug. Some basic precautions 1. Keep hands away from rotating parts. 2. Be careful when working near the embossing area, pay attention to safety. 3, Be sure to remember that rags, clothes, and fingers can easily be caught in the middle of the rollers. Care must be taken. 4, training and develop the correct method of lifting weights: the waist should be straight, knees bent, with the help of leg power to lift heavy objects. 5. When parking the plate, it is necessary to fold the rags neatly to prevent the edges of the rags from being caught by the machine. 6. Be careful and alert to any other solvent odor. If there is a solvent odor, it is likely that the wrong solvent was used, or there may be poor air circulation. 7, do not smoke when working, smoking is a great fire hazard. 8. Keep flammable materials away from electronic hand tools. The locking indicator is to be used in conjunction with the locking device. It reminds the worker that the machine has stopped running, needs repairs or maintenance, and does not turn on the power supply anyway. The locking mark is affixed to the locking device. This mark reminds the staff of the reason why the machine or tool is locked. If the lock logo is attached to the machine, detailed instructions must be added. In FIG. 113, the lock identification shown is "Forbidden Operation" to indicate that the device is in a locked state. There are also some other lock identities, such as "Prohibited to start," "Prohibit to close," and "Prohibit opening." All areas of the press are equipped with personnel first aid devices. There should be one or two eyewash locations (as shown in Figure 114). Staff must know where these devices are located and how they are used in an emergency. In addition, there should be other first-aid equipment in the factory, and each employee must know the location and treatment of emergency equipment. Other safety facilities, such as emergency water thresholds, fire blankets, etc., must also be kept in mind. Each team should have at least one person trained in first aid and assigned him to handle the emergency.
