Pyrolysis gasoline styrene extraction complete sets of new process technology international leader

Recently, the "Petroleum Extraction, Distillation and Recovery of Styrene Package Technology (STED) Development" project undertaken by the Institute of Petrochemical Science and Technology was approved in Beijing. The appraisal expert group unanimously held that this technology has excellent performance and remarkable economic benefits, and it has reached the international advanced level.

Pyrolysis gasoline styrene extraction is matched with large-scale ethylene plants and is an important process technology for rational utilization and optimization of aromatic hydrocarbon resources. At present, China has more than 10 million-million-ton ethylene plants. If this technology is used, not only 300,000 tons/year of styrene can be obtained, but also 500,000 tons/year of xylene with low ethylbenzene content can be obtained as a PX plant. High-quality raw materials can also save a lot of hydrogen and prolong the life of a hydrogenation catalyst for pyrolysis gasoline. After 8 years of scientific research, the Institute of Petrochemical Sciences cooperated with Guangdong Xinhua Yue Petrochemical Co., Ltd. to develop highly selective catalysts and processes for the selective hydrogenation of phenylacetylene through laboratory experiments, process simulations, and engineering studies. Extractive distillation and decolorization refining technology form a new process technology (STED) for pyrolysis gasoline styrene extraction. The styrene extraction unit uses highly efficient compound solvents, unique solvent regeneration and extraction tower cooling technology to ensure the stable operation of the device.

Using the STED process technology, a 30,000-ton/year styrene extraction plant was built in Guangdong Xinhua Yue Petrochemical Co., Ltd., which achieved the first industrial application of the technology and achieved stable long-term operation. The results of the operation show that: all technical indicators have reached the design requirements, product quality, high recovery, low energy consumption, material consumption. The calibration assessment results showed that the styrene purity was 99.87w%, the platinum-cobalt color number was <10, extraction recovery rate was 98%, and the total recovery rate was 94.3%. The major technical indicators were significantly better than the foreign counterparts. STED process technology has applied for 10 invention patents and has been authorized 3, with innovative and independent intellectual property rights.
