Magplastic: Bringing 2 New Blow Molding Technologies

Bottleneck positioning technology for the production of bottles with caps

The increasing popularity of flip covers means that precise alignment between the lid and the container becomes a necessary operation. The function of bottleneck positioning is provided on most linear and rotary stretch blow molding machines, but such blow molding machines require the use of a preform having one or two grooves on the neck. The Magplastic SSB02 bottleneck positioning device is compatible with almost all preforms on the market. Magplastic's bottleneck positioning technology allows the blow-molded containers with neck threads to always be positioned in the same position without the need for expensive positioning grooves to achieve very high positioning accuracy. At the same time, bottleneck thread positioning time is less than 0.8 seconds.

Bottleneck positioning steps:

1. The preform is randomly loaded onto the vacuum star wheel;
2. After the first rotation, a mechanical system comes into contact with the preform and detects the starting position of the thread. Finally, rotate and position the preform according to the desired position. The accuracy of this positioning process is close to 0.36° and the positioning time is less than 0.8 seconds.

3. The positioned preforms are loaded onto the conveyor and blow fingers (needle). The preforms are in intimate contact with the blow fingers until the blown bottles are removed. The blow-molded fingers have an embedded magnet and the magnets are excited to control the positioning of the bottleneck as the process proceeds in different stages.

Optimized heating technology for complex-shaped bottle production

When you blow an oval, flat, or complex shaped bottle, you'll find it difficult. Magplastic's optimized heating technology can solve this problem. This technology can achieve very accurate bottle wall thickness distribution, so that the weight of the preform can be optimized, and a large number of cost savings can be achieved. Moreover, this technology is quite simple and can even be retrofitted to existing SSB 02 machines.

With Magplastic's optimized heating technology, various parts of the preform can be heated more intensely during the blow molding process. In this way, the cooled portion of the preform still has enough material to stretch and impart the necessary wall force outside the bottle.

Steps to optimize heating:
1. The heated preform is detached from the press chamber;
2. The blow fingers count and the preform passes through the preferred heating zone. The rotation of the preform stopped, and only two opposite areas were under heat radiation;
3. Detach from the pre-heating zone: The blown fingers are turned 90° again, in order to ensure that the preform enters the mold in the correct direction;
4. Blow molding process: In the mold, the magnets in the mold ensure that the blow fingers are held in place so that the preform remains in place prior to blow molding.
