Laser Water Marking Process

Laser trademark and decal paper are widely used in various high-end gift boxes, bicycles and car stickers, various avant-garde trademarks and packaging, etc. with its unique craftsmanship and effects, making the products more luxurious, elegant, and more attractive to consumers, and the market is vast. With great promise, it is not difficult to have a place in the printing industry. I have introduced some of my experience in the production process to everyone for your reference.

First, the choice of materials

Laser-washed decals are also a member of the sticker family. When producing a laser trademark, you must first choose paper. In general, laser paper is a reflective laser mask that has a variety of different colors and patterns on the basis of polyester. Laser paper can be purchased from general suppliers. According to customer's requirements, materials with different laser effects can be selected. There are two kinds of laser paper: one cannot be washed, we call it laser paper, and the other can be washed. We call it washed paper. The two are just different from each other in the mask. The washed material is slightly brighter than the laser paper. The best way to identify it is to put it in the water and try it out. You can distinguish between the two materials. Here we only describe washed paper. Because the washed paper is printed in water, it must be soaked in water. Therefore, the backing paper must be coated with PE to prevent the bottom paper from penetrating the water. Otherwise, when the product is put into the water when it is washed, the paper is rolled up into a small tube and becomes waste because of a large amount of water seepage. Therefore, when purchasing raw materials, it must be carefully examined whether it is water-washing material or PE film. This is of utmost importance. If the customer does not have special requirements, the mask with a thickness of 25# is generally available, which is very good.

Second, prepress preparation

When preparing the mass-produced water-washed paper, the paper-cutting personnel should first wash the perspiration on the hands with soap, and do not leave perspiration marks on the surface of the paper. Wipe clean the four sides of the paper and prevent the paper from remaining when handling and pulling the paper. The gel particles are spilled on the printed surface and should be handled with care. Do not scratch the surface. If the operator wears white cloth gloves, the job is better. If there are fingerprints with oil and sweat on the surface, when there are glue particles, the fingerprints and glue will not be cleaned in the process of washing. If there is a scratch, wash the laser part and watch the light. There are traces of transparency, resulting in a higher scrap rate.

Third, the choice of ink

Since washing requires strong alkali and strong acid to decompose the electroplating mask, when selecting the ink, it is necessary to use strong adhesion and optimized learning ink. Generally, the DYT series ink can be economical and practical. In the past, we were all printing transparent oils with a full-area pattern. The first washed with water and then printed with the same color as the decals. However, often the back color could not withstand the transparent oil, and sometimes exposed the semi-light laser edge. When viewing, the thickness of the indentation on the side of the primer is inconsistent. This is due to the fact that when the paper is soaked in water, the edges are soaked and soft, affecting the positioning of the paper. Later gradually improved, in the output of the film, only the laser part to do the transparent oil version, which not only reduces the possibility of overprinting and saves transparent oil, and can print all the colors and then washed, transparent oil can be printed first Putting it on the last printed page is convenient for you, and other colors can be printed in a light to dark manner in the normal order.

IV. Precautions in printing

When printing, usually choose 300 mesh polyester monofilament yellow mesh, aluminum mesh frame. If the printed color is more than ten, use a tensiometer to make a nine-point test, so that the tension of the same product screen is basically the same, and the error is less than 1.5N. Inconsistent screen tension will directly affect the color registration, resulting in inaccurate color registration. After washing, no fine gaps will occur between color and color due to misregistration, and transparent gaps will appear. It is worth reminding that DYT series inks have stronger adhesion than ordinary inks and have a high resin content. They are more difficult to handle in mass production. They look dry when touched. Once they are put away, they will all stick and stick. Small spots of scars will appear on the printed patterns, which are more serious than scrapped. For example, sensitive color, blue sticky can not be remedied, transparent oil sticky, there is no laser effect, so in the production process, such as eager to catch the goods as possible to receive a little bit of India, this method is fast and secure. In the printing process, the solvent uses DYT's special S-24 oil to open the water. In batch production, it must be added less frequently. The ink is too dry and it will stick to the plate, causing lines and borders to have burrs. Too thin to cause printing and paste, and the ink is thin and direct. Affect the adhesion, there will be a small part of the ink when washing, the solvent dry and thin must be appropriate, in the case of non-stick version as much as possible print dry.

V. Washing

After printing all the colors, it needs to be dried for 7-8 hours (natural drying). If it is urgently shipped, it can also use drying tunnel or dehumidifier for strong drying, so that the ink can achieve the best adhesion, and then do the washing. When washing, prepare three large plastic buckets, followed by alkali, acid, and water. Be sure to control the ratio of alkali to water and the temperature of the water. Normally, 250g of alkaline water is diluted with 40kg of clean water, and the temperature can be changed with boiling water to keep it at 50. Between -60 °C, first wash with two or three trials, generally about 10 minutes, under the action of alkali, the printing ink part is retained, no ink blanks become transparent polyester. At this point we get the product graphics we need. At this time, carefully observe the several test washing products to see if the ink is off, whether it is washed, the surface brightness is good or bad, and the feeling is good. During the washing process, if the speed is slow, the alkali concentration and the temperature of the water can be increased. It is worth noting that the speed is a bit slower, but it is very safe, and the alkali must be in proper amount. If the concentration exceeds the limit, it may cause the printed pattern parts to be washed out. In practical operation, it should be used flexibly. When the washed paper is put in acid water, the ratio of acid is 500g acid to 40-50kg water, which is a little bit less. Then rinsing in clean water, although the water looks shinny when rinsing out, but will leave a small bit of water marks after drying, affecting the appearance of the product, and finally changed to scrape off excess water with a scraper The method is to use a small table top with a layer of absorbent cloth, put the paper on it, scraper into an angle of 45 °, gently scratch it. Then put it back on the drying rack to dry it, polish it, die-cut, store it, and ship it.
