When it comes to papermaking, few people immediately think of cigarette paper. However, as a special type of paper, cigarette paper not only occupies a higher position in the tissue paper, but also serves as a cigarette material and has a place in the tobacco industry. Small cigarette papers have a difficult production technology, and only a few countries in the world have the ability to produce cigarette papers. According to reports, the current global cigarette paper consumption is about 300,000 tons, of which one-third is "Made in China," and the other two-thirds are produced by France, Germany, Austria, Italy, Spain, Japan, and the United States. The top five cigarette paper manufacturers in China are Yunnan Hongta Lanying Paper, Mudanjiang Hengfeng Paper, Sichuan Jinfeng Paper, Hangzhou Huafeng Paper and Jiaxing Minfeng Paper. The reporter learned that China’s cigarette production ranks first in the world, but its export volume is very small and it mainly supplies the domestic market. Imports of cigarette paper account for about one-tenth of consumption.
China is the "biggest producer of cigarette paper". Cigarette paper used in the tobacco industry has historically depended on domestic supply. However, in the early 1990s, there was a large backlog of domestic cigarette paper. Two-thirds of paper used in cigarette factories actually relies on imports. On the one hand, a large backlog of their own products, on the other hand, they have imported products from other countries. For cigarette paper companies, the situation is very embarrassing.
Industry sources told reporters that the reason for this was the passive situation at that time. In the past, due to the low speed of cigarettes, domestic cigarette paper was still marginally available for use. But later, many cigarette factories began to introduce foreign equipment with faster cigarette speeds to increase production efficiency. Domestic tray papers could not adapt to new production lines. In particular, the number of cigarette paper machine breaks exceeded 1-2 times that of imported tray papers. . Domestic cigarette paper is not keeping pace with the development of tobacco plants. This caused the domestic cigarette paper to be left unattended in the warehouse, and the imported plate paper was even in short supply.
Cigarette paper experts summarized the main drawbacks of domestic cigarette paper products at present: First, there is insufficient understanding of the importance of formation. The paper is used on the cigarette machine. The strength of each point of the paper should withstand the balancing requirements of the machine when it rotates. In China, the average report test method masks the weakness of paper. The second problem is the sampling location. The standard stipulates that ten banners shall be taken from the banner of the next large roll to make the strength test of the paper, and the paper on the upper machine shall be the longitudinal direction of the paper.
In order to meet the cigarette factory's requirements for the quality of disc paper, China's cigarette paper industry is undergoing technological transformation in two stages. As of last year, about 13 enterprises in China still produce cigarette paper. Among them, 5 domestic companies that use imported paper machines to produce products account for 80% of the market. Their product quality level is the same as that of imported products, but the price is lower than imported products, and the service is better.
However, as the market demands for product quality continue to increase, the market demand for a variety of pattern cigarette papers and anti-counterfeiting cigarette papers continues to increase. The production lines that were rebuilt several years ago cannot meet market demand. In recent years, the use of cigarette paper by tobacco plants is no longer limited to packaging, and more attention has been paid to its decorativeness and higher requirements for printing aesthetics. From the original single-color variety to multi-color products, and the proportion of multi-color products increased year by year. With the growing demand for health and environmental protection of cigarettes, as one of the important means to reduce the tar content and reduce the harm of smoking, static electricity and laser perforated tipping papers have been developing rapidly. In particular, laser perforated tipping paper has become an important development direction in the future. In addition, some cigarette factories also need cigarette paper with anti-counterfeiting technology.
