All-in-one machine maintenance

Carry out regular maintenance to ensure the normal use of multifunctional integrated equipment. The following easy-to-use solutions help prevent problems and ensure that the device is always in top condition.

All-in-one machine cleaning If you have an all-in-one device that can print, scan, copy, and even fax services, be sure to check at any time to see if you need cleaning. For example, if you notice ink, dust, or dirt on the device, or if dirt or ink marks appear on the document, it means the device has been cleaned.

Scanner cleaning If black or white lines appear on the copies made, outgoing faxes, or scanned items, the scanner should be cleaned and recalibrated.

To clean the scanner channel, follow these steps:

1 Disconnect power to the device.
2 Open the document access door.
3 If the white strip (located inside the document access door) is stained with dirt, use a dry cotton swab to clean it. If there is still dirt or debris on the strip, use a cotton swab moistened with a small amount of isopropyl alcohol to gently clean the white strip. (If you use alcohol, only a small amount of alcohol is needed. Alcohol dripping on the internal parts of the device will damage the device.)
4 If the glass strip opposite the white strip is stained with dirt, use a dry cotton swab for cleaning. If there is still dirt or debris on the glass strip, use a cotton swab moistened with a small amount of isopropyl alcohol to gently clean the glass strip.
5 Check the rollers inside the scanner for dirt or debris. Use a lint-free cloth moistened with water (such as lens tissue) to clean the dirty rollers.
6 Check whether the presser foot and the presser plate are stained with dirt or debris. If the presser foot and pressure plate are not clean, use a lint-free cloth moistened with a little water to clean it.
7 Using a dry, lint-free cloth, completely remove any remaining dirt on the roller, presser foot, and platen in the horizontal direction.
8 After the water traces are completely dry, close the document access door.

Printer cleaning In general, only a minimal amount of maintenance is required for the inkjet printer components of the all-in-one. However, regular cleaning can maintain its beautification and prevent printing problems in the future. The printer case is cleaned every time the ink cartridge is replaced. Please wipe with a damp cloth, and be careful not to let moisture get inside the printer. If necessary, use a soft brush or computer vacuum cleaner to remove lint and dust from the paper path.
Ink stains accumulated in most inkjet printers are normal and do not need to be removed (alcohol or roller cleaner may damage the printer). In addition, do not use lubricants on the metal rod on which the print cartridge moves. The noise from the back and forth movement of the stand is also normal.

Ink cartridge cleaning Cleaning the inkjet print cartridge itself can correct the problem of missing lines or missing points, and can eliminate streaks on the paper, thereby improving printer performance. To clean the ink cartridge, follow these steps:

1 Turn on the printer and lift the top cover of the printer. After the printer cartridge moves to the center of the printer, unplug the power cable from the back of the printer. Remove the ink cartridge and place it on the paper sideways.
2 Wet a clean cotton swab, then squeeze out excess water.
3 Hold the black print cartridge with the nozzle plate facing upward.
4 Use a cotton swab to clean the surface and edges of the print cartridge. Please do not wipe the nozzle plate.
5 Check for residual debris on the ink cartridge. To check, move the ink cartridge near the light and tilt the ink cartridge at an angle. If you find dust, dirt, or fibers, repeat steps 3 and 4 to remove these residues.
Repeat steps 1 to 4 to complete the cleaning of the color print cartridge. When cleaning each ink cartridge, be sure to use a new cotton swab to avoid mutual contamination between the ink cartridges.
6 Reinstall the print cartridges, and then close the top cover of the printer. Connect the power cable, and then print a test page to ensure that the entire device is operating properly.
7 To avoid ink marks, it is necessary to clean both ink cartridges. Please also note that the ink cartridge should not be left outside for more than 30 minutes, otherwise the print head will be air-dried and the ink cartridge cannot be used.

Ink cartridge calibration color printers use both black ink cartridges and color ink cartridges. These ink cartridges must be calibrated frequently so that the printer will drip ink correctly side by side within text lines or graphics. For the following situations, use the printer utility to align the print cartridges.

The black ink and color ink in the printout are mixed with each other.
There is a small gap between the color blocks in the printout and the black outline.
The print cartridge has been removed or replaced.
