According to foreign reports, Philips scientists have developed a fully-featured 13.56MHz electronic tag (RFID) based entirely on plastic electronics. In a statement, Philips said that, unlike traditional silicon-based electronic tags, plastic-electronics-based tag chips can be mounted directly on plastic surfaces, saving many complex assembly processes.
The current bar code technology requires people to use a special system and type identification code to read normally, which is cumbersome and costly, and the emergence of plastic electronic tag technology may change this situation. Philips said that the company now clearly knows that its first electronic label based on plastic electronics technology can transmit multi-bit digital identification code in the industry's mainstream 13.56MHz standard.
